Roxane Bernier is ending her Ph.D dissertation at the Department of Sociology of Université de Montréal and was attached several years as a professional researcher to the Centre d'Étude et de Recherche sur les Expositions et les Musées (CÉREM) at Université Jean Monnet in France. The subject of her thesis focuses on the visitors' perception with regards to the usability of IT in museum, namely interactive computers, videoconferences, and virtual museums. She has worked as a consultant for the Direction des musées de France, the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie in Paris, also at the Musée de la civilisation de Québec and at the Musée canadien des civilisations at Hull in Quebec. She has coordinated a special issue on new technologies for the French European Journal of Museology Publics et Musées in 1998. Thus, she was invited to write articles on web museums for Archée, a Cyberart magazine. She has as well participated at numerous international conferences (Australia, Finland, United Kingdom, United States), namely the 2nd International Conference on Cultural Attitudes Towards Technology and Communication (CATaC) and the 1st Annual Conference of the Association of Internet Research (AoIR).
