Robin K. Wright received her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Washington in 1985. She has taught art history at the University of Washington for sixteen years and is Curator of Native American Art at the Burke Museum. Her research on Haida art has resulted in numerous publications, including her most recent book, Northern Haida Master Carvers. Last year, she curated the exhibit "Entwined with Life: Native American Basketry," which received the first annual Charles Redd Center for Western Studies Award for Exhibition Excellence from the Western Museums Association. She also curated the award winning Washington State Centennial Exhibition "A Time of Gathering: Native Heritage in Washington State" at the Burke Museum in 1989. Her book A Time of Gathering won the 1992 Washington State Governor's Writers Award. In 1997 she published an analog videodisk and accompanying catalog, Pacific Northwest Indian Art in Museums and Private Collections: The Bill Holm and Robin K. Wright Slide Collections, which includes 25,000, images of Northwest Coast and Plateau Indian art from 200 museums and private collections world wide. She is currently researching Haida house models of the village of Skidegate, B.C., and developing an interactive web-site exhibit based on "Entwined with Life: Native American Basketry." She served on the NAASA Board from 1989-1997 and has been President of NAASA since 1999.
