Mr. Leonard Steinbach joined The Cleveland Museum of Art as its first Chief Technology Officer in fall, 1999, encompassing business, exhibition, internet and new media technologies. Prior to this current assignment, he was Chief Technology Officer for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (1996-99) where he was responsible for exhibition as well as general business technology. He is currently also Project Director for a national demonstration project bringing lifelong learning in the arts through interactive broadband technology to older and disabled persons at residential facilities and in their homes. Additionally, Mr. Steinbach’s division provides technical support for the Museum’s distance learning program for the public schools, and he is currently working on a long term proposal for the Museum to deliver university level courses in Asian Art, a specialty of the Museum, possibly using Internet2 or other broadband opportunities.

Mr. Steinbach is also President of the Museum Computing Network (MCN) and is on the Board of Advisors of the digital media program of the Cleveland Institute of Art.
