Dirk De Meyer has been the Chief Curator at the Canadian Centre for Architecture since 2003. He graduated as an architect and engineer from Ghent University, Belgium, in 1984. He also studied in architectural history at the Dipartimento di Storia dell'architettura, IUAV, Venice, and completed a Ph.D. on the Bohemian Baroque architect Johann Santini Aichel at the Technical University of Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 1998. From 1986 until 1994, he ran his own architecture practice. Since 1992, he has been an associate professor in architectural history and architectural design at Ghent University, where his responsibilities have included International Programs Director (since 1992), Program Director (2000-2002) of the Dept. of Architecture and Urban Planning, and founder and co-director of the interdisciplinary research team GUST (Ghent Urban Studies Team).
