Joseph CovingtonDirector of Education Joseph Covington has been director of the education department of the North Carolina Museum of Art since 1982. He served in a similar capacity for the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore and the Huntsville Museum of Art. He has a Masters of Art in Teaching from the George Washington University. His work has included the creation of the NCMA Web site, a Learning Center that integrates TMS collections management software for the public, and the 2001-2 exhibition on Toulouse-Lautrec. He served three terms on the Raleigh Arts Commission, one as Chair, as well as six years as Chair of its Public Art Committee and a year as Chair of the Grants Committee. For 15 years he broadcast art commentaries on WCPE and WUNC radio stations. His lectures and foreign group study tours have included numerous topics of French art and culture as well as wide-ranging subjects from the history of European, American, and pre-Columbian art. Joseph will present Creating a Hands-on Academic Classroom with Online Teaching Companions. |
