John Griffiths

Senior Curator - Media Technologies, Science Museum

John joined the Science Museum in 1979. He has been involved in a number of major gallery projects and has been a curator of space technology and modern production technology during his period in the Museum. Between 1987 and 1991 he was Head of the Special Projects Group and between 1991 and 1995 he was responsible for the installation of the new collections management system (within the LAASI consortium).

His current activities include being the curator of the printing and protective clothing collections and has begun work on the setting up of a new software collection. He is also actively involved in compiling content for the Museum's web site and is part of a team involved in the production of a CD-ROM for the forthcoming gallery Making the Modern World, which opens in 2000.

John will present The Web and Contemporary Collecting: A Powerful Combination.
