Alan Murdock is currently a Records Manager with Pfizer in Sandwich, Kent. Born in Belfast and educated at Edinburgh University, he completed a Post-Graduate qualification in Archives and Records Management at Western Washington University. Since 1988 he has worked as a Records Manager for the BBC and as an Archivist at Edinburgh City Archives. He is currently responsible for the development of an Electronic Archive and Retention Schedule programme within Pfizer Central Research. Recent publications and presentations have included, "The Internet and You" (co -author DJ Ryan) Records Management Journal Vol5 No1: June 1995; "The Intranet at Work; Information Exchange and Control in a Large Pharmaceutical Company" Society of Archivists Annual Conference, Edinburgh 1996, "Practical Issues in Implementing a Central Electronic Archive (co-authors DV Bowen and SE Binns) and "Roles and Responsibilities Managing an Electronic Archive.(co-authors DV Bowen and DJ Ryan), both presented at European Union DLM Forum on Electronic Records, Brussels 1996.
