Laura McGee is the Records Management Officer for the City of Dallas,
TX, USA. She is responsible for the city's records management and
archives program. The City had no program when she was hired, and now
is staffed by nine RMA employees, including a city archivist and two
electronic records analysts. She currently is participating in the
two-year NHPRC funded Government Information Policy Institute, at the
University of Pittsburgh, June 1996 and June 1997. She is serving a
two-year term as a board member representing local governments for the
National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators
(NAGARA). Past activities include membership to the State of Texas Open
Records Steering Committee; session presenter on Open Records issues,
including the Texas Attorney General's 1996 conferences on Open
Government, electronic records issues, and records management; and
others. She has a Master's degree in History with an Archives
certificate.
