Michael L. Miller is the Director of Records Management Programs for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), a position he began in January 1997. He has oversight for records management and electronic records policy development, records appraisal, and the Center for Electronic Records. Prior to returning to NARA, he was National Program Manager for Records at the Environmental Protection Agency (1990-96), and an archivist with NARA (1976-90) with experience in both records appraisal and electronic records. Recent experience in electronic records includes work with the EPA to develop electronic records management policies and records disposition schedules for several hundred automated systems. Policy development areas included draft policies for Internet sites, electronic mail, electronic document management, lifecycle development, and data preservation. Mike has spoken widely on electronic records issues and teaches management of electronic records at the University of Maryland, College Park.
