Tools and Techniques for Museum Collaborative Activites
Thimoty Barbieri , Politecnico di Milano, Italy

Session: Collaborative Activity

This workshop explains what is the concept underlying collaboration supported via the web, in a CSCL (Computer Supported Collaborative Learning) environment. Several interesting examples of cooperation among visitors, and between visitors and a lecturer or a guide will be explained.

Collaborative activities can be implemented through a variety of tools already available on the market or with research prototypes.

The workshop will show several examples of usage of these tools in order to implement simple or complex collaborative activities, useful within a museum environment.

At the end of the session, attendees will have a good knowledge of the current techniques to support interactive learning and collaboration for exploring complex content and information, and will have the ability to assess the technical issues related to implementing such systems.
