Internet2 and Museums: New Potential for Programming, Education, and Outreach
Leonard Steinbach, The Cleveland Museum of Art, USA
Ann Doyle, Internet2, USA

Mini-Workshop: Information Session

Internet2 is a new high speed network supported by more than 200 universities to develop and deploy advanced, innovative network applications and technologies, accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet. Since 2001, museums and schools, particularly K-12, have been invited to join the party, but museums tend to be such wallflowers! This session will explore the implications of Internet2 for museum online programming, advanced distance learning, in-house cultural and art programming, image sharing, and other opportunities. It will include information about costs and mechanics of accessing Internet2 and possible funding sources. Party favors will be provided but byoi(deas).
