Gail Durbin has worked at the V&A for 11 years. She came as Head of the Schools Section and then moved on to be Head of Gallery Education. For five years she was a member of the Concept Team of the British Galleries. In May 2002 she was appointed Head of the V&A's On-Line Museum. She has no technical expertise. She started her career as a secondary teacher and has worked for local authority museums and English Heritage. She has written extensively on the educational use of museums and is co-author of a book on teaching with artefacts.
