Michael Volmar Volmar first came to Fruitlands in 1994 as a Scholar-in-residence. In 1995 he was hired as Curator. As Curator, Volmar is responsible for managing the museum collections, exhibits and library. Major projects include the reinstallation of the Indian Museum in 1998, development of a collections storage building, renovation of the Picture Gallery in 1999, web site development, the Willard Farm site, Native American hunting and gathering area, and NAGPRA compliance. Other accomplishments include developing and managing the forest stewardship program for our 210-acre grounds and the archaeological survey of the property. In concert with the board Collections Committee he drafted the Collections Management Policy and determines the conservation management priorities for the collections and buildings. With the Director of Education he develops the interpretive plan for the site.
