Building the New MoMA: A Digital GuideAllegra Burnette, The Museum of Modern Art, USA Demonstration: Demonstrations - Session 2 The Museum of Modern Art recently collaborated with IBM and Acoustiguide to create a pilot PDA project, entitled Building the New MoMA: A Digital Guide to coincide with the opening of MoMA's newly renovated and expanded museum. Focusing on the recent building project as well as the museum's past architectural history, the Digital Guide provides an interactive mix of audio and visual information to supplement the traditional audio tour. Visitors stop at key points throughout the museum, where they can select from a variety of media formats including archival film footage, video interviews with museum staff and contributors, and narrated slideshows of the construction of the museum. The Digital Guide is initially being offered on a limited basis as a free pilot project, and visitors are asked to complete a survey at the conclusion of the tour. Information gathered from this pilot project will be used in planning and developing the next iterations of the project. The demonstration will include showing the Digital Guide, as well as a discussion of the initial findings. |
