Ron Wakkary is Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. His research includes interaction design with mobile technologies and responsive environments, design methods and theory. Previously, he was faculty in Interactive Arts and the Academic Dean at the Technical University of British Columbia, and was faculty in the Digital Design Department at Parsons School of Design. He is cofounder of Stadium@Dia in New York where he collaborated and co-developed pioneering projects in art and the Internet. He has lead digital arts technology projects for the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Dia Center for the Arts, and Electronic Arts Intermix. And he was principal in oo-design, a web development company in New York. Appointed member and steering committee member of the Canadian Culture Online National Advisory Board (CCONAB) to advise Minister of Canadian Heritage in 2002, he currently is Chair of the Standards and Research & Development Sub-Committee for the CCONAB. Wakkary is a member of Banff New Media Institute Research Advisory Board, and has served on several boards, committees and juries nationally and internationally, including the Canada Council, National Research Council, Leonardo Digital Review and Weblab. He has presented and published widely, including Computer Human Interaction ACM, Siggraph, Interact and Consciousness Reframed conferences.
