Emmanuel FréconSICS Emmanuel Frécon received his M.S. degree from the National Institute of Applied Science, Lyon, France, in May 1993. He spent his last year of studies as an ERASMUS student at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, where he presented his thesis on the integration of teleconferencing facilities in a virtual environment. He received his Ph.D. degree in applied information technology from the IT university of Göteborg in 2004. Emmanuel Frécon has been working as a full-time researcher at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science since august 1994 and is one of the main architects of the DIVE system. His main research interest has long been the design and implementation of collaborative virtual environments systems, with a focus on distribution issues and application support. Recently, he has slightly moved focus and directed his interest to Weblogs and their usage as personal and professional tools. He is the architect of the mBlog system, which has already been used in a number of projects. In general, he is a firm believer of the feedback chain between technology, applications and users.
