Amy C. Smith is Lecturer in Classics and Curator of the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology at the University of Reading. She was educated at Dartmouth College (BA 1988) and Yale University (MA 1993, MPhil 1994, PhD 1997) as well as the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, the American Academy in Rome, the American Numismatic Society, and the Herder Institute in Leipzig. Before her move to England, Amy taught at Tufts University, Boston College, the Massachusetts College of Art, and Yale University, and worked as an editor at the Perseus Project and the American Journal of Archaeology. She has excavated in Greece (Athens and Corinth) as well as Mallorca (Pollentia). Amy is interested in Greek and Roman art, particularly in the spheres of politics, myth, and religion. Her work on personifications comprises several articles and a forthcoming book, Personifications of Political Ideas in Classical Athenian Art. She has authored other articles pertaining to Greek art and architecture, as well as a volume of the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum (for the Ure Museum). She is currently working on the Virtual Lightbox for Museums and Archives and a renewal of the Ure Museum's learning environment.
