Franca Garzotto is Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the Department of Electronics and Information, Politecnico di Milano, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in Multimedia Design and Human Computer Interaction. She has a Degree in Mathematics from the University of Padova (Italy) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Politecnico di Milano. Her research interests focus on web design, usability, multimedia applications for cultural heritage, multimedia applications for kids. She has been involved in various national and international research projects in the above fields. She has been tutorial chair and/or member of the technical program committee of several editions of international conferences such as ACM Hypertext and Hypermedia, ACM Multimedia, ICHIM, Museums and the Web, WebNet, Web Engineering. She served as Program Chair of the International Workshop on "Hypermedia Design" ( Montpellier – FR, 1995), Co-Chair of the First International Workshop on "Evaluation and Quality Criteria for Multimedia Applications" (S. Francisco - CA, 1995) and ICHIM'01 (Milano, 2001). She was SIG-WEB (ACM Special Interest Group on Hypermedia & Web) vice chair from 1997 to 1999. She is currently member of the Board of Directors of EPOCH - the EC Network of Excellence on ICT and Cultural Heritage.
