Wendy A. ThomasProject Leader Wendy A. Thomas is a Heritage Information Analyst with the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN), Department of Canadian Heritage. She received an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from York University, Toronto, in 1984. She was involved in the National Inventory Program, acquiring experience in automated collections management at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She has been guest curator of African Art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, and has taught art history courses in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University, Montreal. In addition to exhibition catalogues and contributions to thesauri of religious objects, her publications include Internet Use by Canadian Heritage Professionals: A Study by the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN, 1999); "Creating a National Web Site: the Canadian Experience" in Museums International (UNESCO, 1999); "Partners, Profiles, and the Public: Building a Virtual Museum Community" in Museums and the Web 97: Selected Papers (Archives and Museum Informatics, 1997); and "Museums and Learning" in Museums: Where Knowledge is Shared. ( Société des musées québécois and Musée de la civilisation, 1995). Wendy Thomas has been with CHIN since 1994, where she is with Portals Management and Design. She has worked with the Canadian museum community to develop resources and enhance professionals' capacity to create, manage, present and preserve digital content. She was a member of the planning team for the Virtual Museum of Canada and was project leader for the redesign of the CHIN Web site. Wendy will present Actual/Virtual Visits: what are the links?. |
