Farrah Rooney is a young professional who has been working in mid-sized community museums for the past seven years, the last two of which have been as the Curator of Education and Collections at the BC Museum of Mining. She has worked as a curator, programmer and a collections manager in various institutions and holds undergraduate degrees in both Art and Culture Studies and in Theatre. Farrah embraces new technology and understands the importance and potential of digital collections, websites and virtual museums. She was the primary liaison with our web designers for the BC Museum of Mining website, which has since been nominated for a BCMA award for excellence, and worked closely with them to create the product, including decisions around content and the actual writing of the text. She understands museums play a very important role in our community to communicate history in a constantly changing social context and believes in the power of web-based products to achieve this. Farrah is a recipient of a Canadian Professional Scholarship to MW2005.

Farrah will demonstrate Accessibility for the midsize museum: concept building for a Virtual Museum Project.
