Claire Harcup is a Commissioning Executive with Culture Online, part of the UK Government's Department for Culture Media and Sport. She has considerable experience commissioning new technology projects involving museums and galleries, which bring arts and culture to new audiences. Claire has 20 years' experience in developing and commissioning projects for segmented audiences, ten of them in new media. For many years she was Editorial Director and then Publishing Director of Websters International Publishers. During this time she was editorial lead on the first CD-Rom Microsoft had allowed to be developed out of house. She subsequently worked on many Microsoft projects. Claire's experience spans magazines, books and visitor attractions, as well as electronic media, and she has developed both adult and children's titles. She was responsible for developing the best-selling partwork magazine to date and many of the projects she has worked on have won awards. Claire has also worked in the corporate sector. She was content strategist on BP's award-winning site and set up Barclays Bank's personal finance Web team.
