Prior to taking up the post of Chief Executive of MDA, Nick was Regional Policy Adviser to the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA). His responsibilities there included the management of the relationship between MLA and the 9 English Regional Agencies, building on the Shared Planning Framework and maintaining a strategic overview of the developing Regional agenda. Prior to taking up this role, Nick worked as ICT Adviser at Resource, MLA's predecessor organisation. In addition to these responsibilities, Nick has been active in a number of related areas. He has continued to act as Project Lead for the Cornucopia database of UK Collections and expert adviser to the New Opportunities Fund (and latterly the Big Lottery Fund) on national content-creation and training programmes. He has been actively involved in the development of the new Museum Accreditation standard, and in the first phases of the Renaissance in the Regions programme. Nick has published and presented both nationally and internationally on a range of subjects including new technologies, digital accessibility, collections description and management and legal issues including Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Copyright. He has lectured widely on issues around information management and new technologies.
