Christian Derler is a Senior Scientist, member of the management team at the Institute of Information Systems & Information Management at JOANNEUM RESEARCH and co-leader of the Intelligent Information Systems Group. He graduated in Information Technology from the University of Technology, Graz in 1995. He managed numerous national and international projects in the cultural heritage domain, complemented by consulting activities within the scope of the company’s technology transfer mission. His main research interests are on applications of Web technologies, services and standards with a focus on the use of both geographic and multimedia information. For the last couple of years he has been dealing with applications of intelligent information systems in connection with digital media for different application domains, mainly cultural heritage, but also traffic & transport, and security research. He is also a member of the so called “Creative Lab”, a multidisciplinary group of experts within the company that deals with innovative approaches to problem solving in technology consulting. He has been in charge of the cooperation between the Technisches Museum Wien and JOANNEUM RESEARCH from the beginning in 2002 which resulted in the concept for creation of the virtual exhibition space and the development of the media.editor
