Mariruth Leftwich has worked in the field of museum education for over ten years, working at two regional history museums in the United States and currently at the Museum of London. Prior to her museum work, Mariruth was a high school history teacher. She is pursing a PhD at the University of London's Institute of Education, researching in the fields of museum studies and history education. Previous degree work includes an MA in modern history from Royal Holloway and an MEd concentrating on instructional technology and curriculum design. Mariruth’s interest in museum websites began while serving as the Vice President for Education at the Charlotte Museum of History, where she created the museum’s first online education content. Her work at the Museum of London as e-Learning officer has consisted of developing the Great Fire of London Web site, conducting extensive teacher consultation and user-testing, designing several online interactives for schools audiences, and planning on-site programmes for the new e-Learning studio scheduled to open in Fall 2009.
