Australian Museum has had a website for three and a half years. In September 1997 we launched a totally restructured and redesigned site. A primary aim of the site is to promote two way communication via email, interactives, enquiry, survey and other forms, between the virtual Museum visitors and people working in the Museum. Presentation of rich content and experiences about programs, research and collections of the Museum is available online. Information is layered and selected to enable website visitors to make choices about their journey through the site in a way that suits them. We will be developing a high level of interactivity into our site. We see the site as a place where our visitors can also make connections to other places in the WWW via our search facilities, links and bookmarks.
