Joris Komen

Curator of Birds, National Museum of Namibia, Namibia

Joris Komen has been Curator of Birds at the National Museum of Namibia for 15 years, and initiated and developed a Linux LAN/WAN system on a dismal grey PC at the museum a couple of years ago.  The result of this was a drastic decline in ornithological productivity, but the enormous satisfaction of ensuring that the National Museum website was one of the very first museum websites in Africa.  Joris is a founding member of Namibia's Internet Development Foundation, and presently coordinates Internet development projects in African museums under the auspices of the Swedish African Museum Programme and International Council of Museums.

Joris will present Lifevest under your seat - an African museum networking initiative takes off and demonstrate National Museum of Namibia and African Museums Online.
