Sam Quigley

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Sam Quigley is the Manager of Collections Information at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Formerly the Keeper of Musical Instruments and Associate Curator of European Decorative Arts, he has been a leading advocate for computerized management of collection information at the MFA since 1990 when he chaired a museumwide committee which produced a documentation needs analysis. A musician by training, he holds an MA in Ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University where he learned to play the Javanese gamelan, primarily the art of leading harmonious ensemble improvisation. Oddly enough, this low tech skill has proven to be quite useful in Sam's present position in which he is trying to orchestrate institutional cacophony.

Sam will co-present Intranets: Using Web Tools to Facilitate Communication and Develop Integrated Access to Museum Information.
