Lynne Teather

Professor, Museum Studies Program, University of Toronto

Lynne Teather is Assoc. Professor of Museum Studies at the University of Toronto where she has been teaching since 1984. One of Dr. Teather's research interests lies in the history of museum and she is currently writing a book on the history of Canadian museums. She also researches and writes on professional development, new technologies, theory and methodology for museology, and curriculum development for Museum Studies. She has worked at the Canadian Museums Assoc., the Canadian Heritage Information network and Niagara-on-the-Lake Historical Society Museum. She is an active volunteer in several museums associations, where she sits on committees and is a frequent presenter, and has been a member of the CMA Human Resource Planning Committee that authored The Workforce of the Future: Competencies for the Canadian Museum Community. With Judie Harvie, she has authored Museum Job Shifts: A Fieldbook for Museum Career Planning and the Development of a Community of Learners for Museums that will soon be available in printed and CD-ROM form.

Lynne will present A Museum is A Museum is A Museum... Or Is It?: A Discussion of Museology on the Web and will be one of the judges for the Best of the Web contest.
