Ray Welland is Professor of Software Engineering and Head of Department of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. His research interests include software design, software engineering processes and web engineering. Web engineering aims to bring together established software engineering practices and web application development so that as web-based systems get larger, more complex and become business critical we have appropriate techniques for developing robust and secure web applications. Ray has more than thirty years of teaching experience in computing science and currently teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in professional software development, software engineering processes and software project management. He has been collaborating with the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery for more than ten years and HOPL is one of the latest projects in a long sequence of collaborative projects undertaken by computing science students in Glasgow.
