In 1979, he joined the GMD German National Research Center for Information Technology. In 1993, he was appointed to an honorary professorship for Social Computer Science at the University of Koblenz. His main research interests include participatory system development, human factors of man-made interaction, ergonomic evaluation methodology, adaptive and adaptable information systems, contextualized learning support for task driven and curiculum based learning, and nomadic information systems for cultural information presentation.
