Art Entertainment Network

Session: Demo Session 1

Art Entertainment Network is an online exhibition that comments on the role of the museum in network culture by constructing the exhibition as a portal--of sorts--to artists' online work. The museum as portal.

The expected functions of a portal are present, from webcams to membership to search engines to convenient sub-categories. But each function is actually an artist project, whether it is the Mongrel search engine or Wolfgang Staehle's webcam homage to Andy Warhol or Group Z's confessional membership or Claude Closky's Year 2000 calendar.

Art Entertainment Network presents the work of over 50 artists and includes a specially-designed revolving door "portal" for gallery viewing in the concurrent exhibition Let's Entertain, an online "mediatheque," which features the work of hundreds of other artists and organizations, and a 3-month discussion "digest" called EAT (Entertainment Art and Technology).
