Best Innovative Site

Winner:

Orinoco

http://www.orinoco.org

Beautifully designed site. Lots of very nice images, creative presentation of information. Good resource for data on region/peoples. Technically creative use of audio, video and 'animation' --Frances Lloyd-Baynes

- this site is fresh, soulful and uplifting to view - the symbols used in the menu are meaningful, refreshingly non-linear and unusual - with accompanying descriptions to assure clarity - when the small patches of intriguing visuals from the collection march along the bottom of the screen - curiosity makes the viewer want to click each image to find out what sort of object has this beautiful detail - information about the native peoples and terrain adds beauty and grace. --Diana Folsom

Providings multiple bandwidth options is a major plus. I wish more sites would think about this. This level of thoughtfulness is reflected throughout the design and conception of the site, right down to the exceptionally clean HTML code. The site provides multiple entry points into the subject matter : Objects, Place, People. This shows a good 'contextual' approach to the information. --Nick Crofts
