Manfred Bogen has been active in the area of group communication, X.400 development, and X.400 standardization since 1983. In 1987 he became head of a research group being responsible for the provision of innovative multimedia services in international Internet environments. He worked in several programme committees of international networking conferences and he was the programme committee chairman of the TERENA Networking Conference 1998 (TNC'98). He was convenor of the TERENA working group on quality management for networking (WG-QMN) and a member of the TERENA Technical Committee until 1999. As a computer scientist his interests are the identification and implementation of innovative multimedia solutions and distributed media applications. Manfred Bogen has a MSc in Computer Science of the University of Bonn, Germany, and among other publications he is co-author of two books about X.400 and distributed group communication.
