Mini-Workshop: Opinions: Professional Forum

This Professional Forum will explore a model for managing, searching and using museum information from many sources based on the way amazon.com works. The convenor hopes to demonstrate the various ways in which the amazon model might serve the needs of the museum community as well as the related sectors of archives and libraries. He will outline the ways in which personalization and intelligent advice, suggestions and recommendations together with the shopping basket provide a front end model that could with adaptation and development provide a 'fits all' solution to the finding of and the use of the wealth of information museums have sitting in databases.

The purpose of the Forum is to explore this and other models that could assist users to better find and exploit relevant information from museums on the web.
