Rick Tessman, also a principal investigator for the NSDL study, provides creative and technical expertise in media production, video editing, multimedia authoring, and graphic design for all McLean Media projects, drawing from more than 25 years of professional experience. He holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Boise State University. Before co-founding the company, he worked for commercial and public television stations as an operations manager, producer, and director, winning awards for documentary and public affairs programming. He has produced and programmed a variety of multimedia projects, including a CD-ROM highlighting an exhibition for the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University, and has served as principal investigator on several McLean Media research and development grants for the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Education, and Head Start. For the NSDL project, his work involves designing Flash-based tools for creating media presentations with online digital media collections.
