Museums of San Francisco Tour

9:15 Walk from Westin St. Francis to SF Moma. 9:30 - arrive Minna St. staff & visitor entrance.

SF Moma 9:30-11:00am

See the Koret Visitor Education Center. Tour of facility and demo of interactive programs in Learning Lounge. Question and Answer session, Stroll through second floor galleries, where many of permanent collection works featured in Koret are on display. a video installation by French artist Sylvie Blocher, who interviewed people in Silicon Valley about their attitudes towards wealth. Then cross street to visit Interactive Educational Technologies workspace.

De Young Museum 11:30-1:00

We will be able to offer pre-conference tour participants a behind the scenes look at the de Young, with an emphasis on the new media installations and features in the building. Highlights will include: Kimball Education Gallery multimedia, electronic signage, Textile Education Gallery interactives, and possibly (depending on the number of participants) a walkthrough of the galleries using the new PDA tour developed with Antenna Audio.

Lunch 1-2:00 pm; off to Exploratorium

Exploratorium: 2:30-4:00

Take a behind the scenes tour through the historical Palace of Fine Arts, home to more than 600 exhibits, exhibit workshops, and a webcast studio. Visit different exhibitions to experience interactive media, then hear short presentations given by the Exploratorium’s staff as they showcase the Exploratorium’s website, digital library, and other web-based media projects.
