Jacqueline Copeland has been Director of Education and Public Programs, Walters Art Museum, since 2000. Her philosophy and passion for the arts was highlighted in her 2001 Baltimore Sun Op Ed article, Devotion to Diversity, which explained the Walters’ commitment to its community. Prior to that, she was Co-Director of Education and Community Programs at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the Walker she was part of the team that developed the website ArtsNet Minnesota, and later, the award-winning website ArtsConnectEd. At the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore she has led the effort to use technology to deliver educational resources to students and teachers throughout the state. Working with Sandbox Studios, Minneapolis, the Walters was one of the first museums to install and use Pacyderm to create an educational resource for arts integration. A 2004 graduate of the Getty’s Museum Leadership Institute, Copeland is a member of several organizations and Boards, among them the Board of Directors of the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore, Maryland; the Board of Directors of Baltimore Partners for Enhanced Learning where she serves as Vice-Chair of Programs; the Board of Observers, Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa; and the Fine Arts Advisory Panel, Maryland State Department of Education.
