Leslie Riggs is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and a Primary Chinuk Wawa teacher in the Tribe’s language immersion school program. Born into a period of termination, Leslie spent the first years of his life knowing he was Indian but was not recognized as such by the United States Government. In 1983 the confederation of tribes Leslie belongs to regained federal recognition status. However, at the time, Leslie was off traveling the world as an itinerant chef and professional drummer. In 1996 Leslie was accepted as a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and from that day he vowed to work for his people. In 2005 Leslie kept his promise and began a series of jobs that have culminated in the position of Primary Chinuk Wawa Teacher. Leslie holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Ethnic Studies from the University of Oregon.

Leslie will present Ntsayka Ikanum: A Native American approach to the on-line experience. [Mini-Workshop]
