Leonard Steinbach has been Chief Information Officer for The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) since 1999, following a similar role at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. His areas of responsibility include all New Media Initiatives as well telecommunications and business systems. Under Steinbach's leadership, CMA is the first art museum in the US to become a member of Internet2 and among the first to become a member of the New Media Consortium. The museum has become involved in a number of innovative and nationally recognized projects, several of which Steinbach has directed or co-directed. Mr. Steinbach currently also teaches in the digital media program of the Cleveland Museum of Art, is is on the Advisory Board of the Horizon Report, a project of The New Media Consortium and National Learning Infrastructure Initiative.
