Professor Harry van Vliet has a background in Psychology as well as in Film and Television Studies, and combined the Chair with his work as senior researcher and business developer at the Telematica Instituut, untill becoming a fulltime professor in 2009. Van Vliet previously worked as a business consultant for Reed Elsevier, among others. He gained his PhD in 1991 at the Faculty of Arts of the Utrecht University. Van Vliet has been involved in the development of the Stichting Innovatie Alliantie (Innovation Alliance Foundation) and is one of the founder fathers of RAAK (Policy for Regional Attention and Action to Promote Knowledge Circulation) which stimulates the development op Universities of Applied Centres as regional partners in innovation research. He published several books on new media development.
