Martin Doerr

Martin Doerr graduated in mathematics and physics in 1978 and received his Ph.D. in nuclear physics at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany in 1982. He is a senior scientist at the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, Greece, and project leader of the Semantic Index System, a semantic network database development. He has more than 20 years experience in software development in various domains. Currently, he deals with the development and employment of semantic networks for cultural information systems and multimedia systems for cultural organizations in Greece and within international projects. He participates in the AQUARELLE project and has cooperation with the Getty Information Institute and the CIDOC data model group. His scientific interests are conceptual modeling and semantic retrieval.
