Williams' over twenty year career in museums began at the National Museums in Canada, Mobile Exhibits Program as an interpreter and later manager. Subsequently he joined the Canadian Museum of Nature where he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in management, public education, publishing and informatics. Recently, on an exchange as Director, Information Services, at the Canadian Heritage Information Network, Williams has been responsible for the development and implementation of new information products for both professional and public audiences. These products include the "Guide to Canadian Museums and Galleries" and the "Heritage Forum" among others.
