Web Project Management
Workshop

The full day workshop will involve participants in a variety of hands-on
exercises that will help them identify and understand the key issues
for Project Managers responsible for overseeing the establishment and
maintenance of museum World Wide Web sites. A number of real and imaginary
case studies will be used to enhance the practical nature of this workshop.
The workshop will follow the sequence of issues that Project Managers
have to deal with in typical World Wide Web projects.
Session 1 - 9.00am - 10.30am
- What is the role of a Project Manager and what are his or her
responsibilities?
- Project management is people management
- Risk management
- Managing the client
Session 2 - 10.50am - 1.00pm
- Defining the project - objectives, scope, roles and responsibilities,
technical standards, marketing and maintenance
- Contents - nature, sourcing, handling, digitising
Session 3 - 2.00pm - 3.30pm
- Legal and contractual issues
- Selecting and briefing the production team
- Establishing and maintaining the schedule - eg Microsoft Project
- Overseeing the production team
Session 4 - 3.50pm - 5.00pm
- Quality assurance
- Marketing the project
- Launching the project
- Maintaining the site
