William Kirby

Executive Director, Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art

William Kirby founded the Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art in 1995 and has been its Executive Director since the CCCA's inception. His main project with the CCCA has been the establishment of the Canadian Visual Arts Information Network, an on-line database of Canadian visual artists and their work. He was Head of the Canada Council Art Bank for 14 years to 1995, and was responsible for the Council's Program of Assistance to Art Galleries and Artist-Run Spaces for the 3 years prior. He is a former Professor of Contemporary Canadian Art at the School of Art, University of Manitoba; Curator of Contemporary Art at the Winnipeg Art Gallery; and Director of the Edmonton Art Gallery. He received his Masters Degree in Contemporary Canadian Art from the University of British Columbia.

William will present Putting Images on the Web: A Hands-on Imaging Workshop, The Student Interactive Imaging Program: Developing Marketable Technical Skills Through a Web-Enabled Database Project and The Canadian Visual Arts Information Network.
