Session: Demonstrations 1

Creativity across disciplines, diverse problem solving, and understanding our world community are the major strategies used by Illinois students to develop content based Web sites using Museum collections. This demonstration highlights these Web sites and provides a discussion into the dynamics involved when integrating artifacts and technology into the classroom. Since 1995, the University Museum has been involved with this Illinois State Board of Education grant-funded project that encourages students and teachers to work together as "Museum Explorers." Through this involvement, they discover the means to bring the Museum into the classroom, and develop projects that are extended to a cyber-audience. Today, we work with 56 schools in grades 1-12 from throughout the state.
