Session: Demonstrations 1

This demonstration describes how material stemming originally from databases could be published locally or globally on the basis of HTML without using any database engine at the user’s front end. Additionally, our technique -- a set of tools intended to be a scholar’s workbench for electronic publishing -- allows to deviate from a rigid database structure at a certain stage of collection of the data, giving authors the opportunity of a more open discourse that is much better suited for the needs of art historians or other scholars in the fields of the humanities than databases. Our technique is applied to the publication of the artistic estate of the late Anna Oppermann that now has been published as a CD-ROM and that could be demonstrated and investigated as well.
