Implementing the Dublin Core for Museums

Session: Workshop 13

This half day introductory level workshop will introduce the principles of Dublin Core Simple for art, cultural and natural history museums. Participants will be instructed on how to apply the 15 DC simple elements and introduced to other essential features of DC including the DC data model and the use of XML to express DC records. Examples of records and issues raised in applying DC to museum information will be explored through examples from the DC testbed experience. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the fundamentals of DC and the challenges and opportunities for the use of DC in museums.
