Director, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Core Programme on the Universal Availability of Publications (UAP) and Copyright Officer for the British Library. Graham Cornish studied theology and history at Durham (UK) and library & information science in Liverpool before joining the British Library in 1969. Since 1983 he has been responsible for copyright issues within the BL and since 1986 has managed much of the BL involvement in IFLA for whom he acts as Director of the Universal Availability of Publications Programme. He is a member of the UK Library Association Council and will be President in the Year 2000. He has been elected a Fellow of both the Library Association and the Institute of Information Scientists. He has published numerous journal articles and nine monographs, especially on copyright, document supply, audio-visual materials, services of the visually impaired and national libraries. His book Copyright: interpreting the law for libraries, archives and information services, is considered a standard work in the field. He is closely involved in several EU projects on electronic copyright management now heads the Secretariat for the IFLA Committee on Copyright and Other Legal Matters and is chair of the IFLA Publisher Liaison Committee.
