David Gabriel was born in Lisboa, 1958 and got a Ph.D. in Informatics, Artificial Intelligence branch, at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, 1994. He is currently Auxiliary Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Faculty of the Porto University (FEUP), where he is also the Director of the Master Program on Information Management. He has been a Researcher at INESC since 1985. His main Research Interests are in Information Systems, Object Oriented Programming, and Information Management. He is currently the leader of the project MetaMedia (Portuguese FCT) on multimedia archives, and is in charge of the development of the university information system SiFEUP in use at the Engineering Faculty.
