Peter Enser is Professor of Information Science and Head of the School of Information Management at the University of Brighton, U.K. In addition to extensive teaching and management experience in Higher Education, his research interests in information retrieval – with particular reference to visual image retrieval, in which field he has directed a number of externally funded research projects - are of long standing. Significant among a number of professional roles also undertaken currently by Peter Enser are those of President of the Institute of Information Scientists, and member of the Library & Information Science Peer Review Panel of the U.K. Arts & Humanities Research Board. He is a member of the Editorial Board of New Library World, and was also an invited member of the U.K. Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency’s Subject Benchmarking Group for Librarianship & Information Management. He is well known as a reviewer, referee and external examiner.
